2013-2014 School Year
Wednesdays 4 – 5pm
OPEN TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY
The Hillel Academy String Orchestra offers Suzuki-based string instruction to all children from second grade to eighth grade. Students of all ability levels are welcome. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in the weekly lessons – pick up an instrument and join your child in learning to play!
Lessons will be taught by professional music educator, Eileen Miller. Students may choose to learn violin, viola, or cello! Classes will take place on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the school. Students will perform in a Fall and a Spring concert.
You only need to obtain the instrument and book. Mrs. Miller recommends renting instruments at a very reasonable price from Fairbanks Violin Shop on Schubert Street in Binghamton (724-1980). If you would like other options, please call Eileen. Depending upon the size of the instrument, rental will be around $120 for the entire year! (That’s really good.)
Mrs. Miller earned degrees in music education from Syracuse University and Ithaca College and has been teaching orchestra at Susquehanna Valley School District since 1990. She is experienced at teaching beginners through high school level students in the public school and in her private studio. Eileen is a member of the Broome County Music Educators Association, the New York State Music Teachers Association, and the American String Teachers Association.
