It is with great honor that Hillel Academy proudly recognizes with respect and admiration the dedication that Brian Savitch and Diane Stento have in the Greater Binghamton community. Their efforts have enriched the lives of our county and our students will forever enrich the world. Thank you Brian Savitch and Diane Stento for everything that you do for the people in Broome County.
Brian, you are a pioneer of Hillel Academy's Annual Journal. You have put your heart and soul into our school for many, many years and we are forever grateful to you.
Diane, what began as a one time community service project at the Danielle House evolved into a beautiful friendship between our students and your organization. Thank you so much for allowing the children of Hillel Academy to learn the importance of community service, and thank you for allowing our school to honor you this year.
Hillel Academy: Our roots are deep, Our reach is high.
The value of a day school education extends far beyond learning history, customs and ceremonies, and prayers. Hillel Academy helps young students form strong Jewish identities. As a true community school Hillel Academy brings together children from all corners of Binghamton's Jewish community—Conservative, Orthodox, Reform, and unaffiliated—in a warm, nurturing environment. Hillel Academy fosters a community spirit based on mutual acceptance, and recognizes, respects and values diversity.
Students and families are to register for the upcoming academic year.
Two days after area schools closed due to Covid, Hillel Academy was back online - each student received a Chromebook (our youngest received Ipdads). Our faculty offered a full-day curriculum with synchronous instruction utilizing Google Classroom and other apps. No matter what the Fall brings, we will offer our students (and parents) a full week of instruction, either in-person or online synchronously.

Teaching to Learning
One of the great benefits of a Hillel Academy education is the focus on learning, and not mandated exams. Our teachers are able to customize the curriculum to focus on individual students, while challenging the entire class to strive. Our exceptional faculty prepare our students for middle school, by encouraging them as learners -- and our students do very well when they transition from Hillel Academy. Our teachers offer a creative, non testing-centered approach to the Common Core, augmented by art, music, Judaics, and special programs. Hillel Academy classes are capped at 12 students.
Mrs. Sarah Macdougal, our Secular Studies Coordinator, is an exceptional educator who has been with Hillel Academy for many years. She oversees and directs the planning, organizing, and implementation of secular education for the students, including helping our excellent faculty refresh the curriculum grade by grade. Mrs. MacD also coordinates and integrates programming with our Judaics faculty. We are incredibly fortunate to have assembled a top-notch faculty who are committed to continuing our well earned tradition of excellence.
From our family to yours. Mazal Tov to our graduates. A beautiful song writ. and composed and compiled by our moreh and rav, Moshe Shmaryahu.
